File a personal tax return with NETFILE
How do I file my personal taxes online?
Use CRA-certified software for the tax year you are filing, complete the return and transmit it through NETFILE. Saving a return in the software is not filing it; keep the CRA receipt code after transmission.
Where to begin
- Choose software from CRA’s certified list for your filing year; check its supported situations, price and privacy policy.
- Enter and review your income, deductions and credits, then resolve the software’s validation messages.
- Check NETFILE restrictions and send the return through the software. If your return cannot use NETFILE, follow CRA’s paper-filing route.
- Keep the confirmation code and a copy of the filed return. Review the later notice of assessment and arrange any payment separately.
Before you open the official service
- The tax year, slips and receipts, and the software’s filing checklist.
- Any prior filing confirmation, to avoid submitting the same return twice.
Keep your actual documents and account details off this website. Use the official service’s current checklist before applying.
What to check for your situation
As reviewed on 3 November 2026, CRA lists NETFILE support for initial 2018–2025 returns. Confirm supported years and availability before filing. This site does not transmit returns.
Fees, processing times and document rules can change. This page helps you navigate; it does not confirm eligibility or replace the government’s instructions.
