Nunavut elections and voting
When is the next election in Nunavut?
As reviewed on November 3, 2026: The authority homepage links 2025 territorial general-election results and the Hudson Bay by-election results for September 28, 2026. I have not verified an exact next territorial general-election date. Check Elections Nunavut for current election announcements.
Where to begin
- Choose the election level: federal, provincial or territorial, or municipal.
- Check the current election notice and your voter registration with the responsible election authority.
- Use that election’s official lookup for your voting options, polling place, identification and deadlines.
Before you open the official service
- The election level and province or territory; include the city for a municipal election.
- Use your address or postal code directly in the official election service to identify the correct riding and voting location.
Check registration, identification and the current election’s voting arrangements with the official authority.
What to check for your situation
Dates, candidates and voting arrangements can change. A scheduled general-election date is not a guarantee that an earlier election will not be called. Past election locations and deadlines are not instructions for the next election.
Voting rules depend on the election level and location. Do not reuse a previous election’s deadlines or polling address.
Election and voting questions
Where do I vote?
For a Nunavut territorial election, use Elections Nunavut’s voter information route. Confirm that it refers to a current election: a district map or old voter card alone does not establish your current polling place.
- Find the current election notice for your district.
- Use the authority’s event-specific location lookup or voter information card for the place and hours.
- If no current location is published, contact the election authority before travelling.
How do I register?
Use Elections Nunavut’s registration instructions to check or update your name and address for a Nunavut territorial election. Do not assume federal registration alone completes this task.
- Open the official registration route.
- Check the accepted documents and current registration deadline; election-day registration rules vary.
Am I eligible to vote?
To vote in a Nunavut territorial election, you must be a Canadian citizen, be 18 or older, have lived in Nunavut for at least one year by election day, and not be disqualified from voting. You must vote in your home constituency and be on the voters list; eligible voters can be added when voting.
- Check registration and accepted identification with the election authority.
- Confirm any special residency, absence or by-election conditions before relying on a general rule.
What ID do I need?
Use Elections Nunavut’s accepted-identification list for a Nunavut territorial election. Federal ID rules are not a substitute for this list.
- Check which documents prove your identity and residence.
- If you lack the usual documents, use the authority’s stated alternatives or contact its office.
Can I vote by mail?
Check Elections Nunavut’s special or absentee voting instructions for the current territorial election. Availability, eligibility, application deadlines and return deadlines depend on that election.
- Select the current election and the option matching where you live.
- Confirm both the application and ballot-return requirements before using that method.
Can I vote early?
Use Elections Nunavut’s current voting-options instructions for advance voting in the Nunavut territorial election. Previous election dates and locations may not apply.
Can I get help voting?
Use Elections Nunavut’s accessibility guidance to request help or a suitable voting option for the Nunavut territorial election. Check notice requirements with the election office.
Can I vote online?
Online registration is not the same as voting online. I have not verified internet-ballot availability for the current Nunavut territorial election. Check Elections Nunavut’s current voting methods before relying on it.
Who is running?
Use Elections Nunavut’s current election notice and candidate list for your territorial electoral district. An elected-member directory is not the same as a list of candidates.
Where are the results?
Use Elections Nunavut for official territorial election results. Check the election date and whether counting or certification is complete.
Check current by-elections
A by-election concerns a particular vacant seat, not every voter in the province or city. I have not verified an upcoming by-election for this area. Check the current notices from Elections Nunavut.
