Check your RRSP contribution room
How much can I contribute to my RRSP?
Your RRSP room is personal: the annual national limit is not automatically the amount you can deposit. Start with your latest CRA deduction-limit statement, account for contributions already made and distinguish unused contributions from unused room.
Where to begin
- Find the RRSP statement on your latest notice of assessment or reassessment, in your CRA account, or on a later T1028.
- Check which tax year it describes and whether a later assessment changed it.
- Reconcile contributions across your own and spousal RRSPs, including amounts already contributed but not deducted.
- Keep contribution receipts and use the applicable tax-year Schedule 7 instructions when claiming a deduction.
Before you open the official service
- Latest CRA RRSP statement and contribution receipts.
- Records of current-year contributions and any pension adjustments.
Keep your actual documents and account details off this website. Use the official service’s current checklist before applying.
What to check for your situation
Contribution room and deduction room are not interchangeable. We cannot see your CRA records or determine your personal limit from income alone.
Fees, processing times and document rules can change. This page helps you navigate; it does not confirm eligibility or replace the government’s instructions.
