Get a missing tax slip
How do I get a missing tax slip before filing?
Ask the issuer for a replacement and check the relevant CRA or Service Canada account. Not every slip is available online, and a missing slip does not mean the income can be left off your return.
Where to begin
- Contact the employer, payer, plan administrator or financial institution that should issue the slip.
- Check CRA My Account; use Service Canada for the relevant CPP, OAS or EI slips.
- If the slip cannot be obtained in time, follow CRA’s instructions for estimates and records of your efforts.
- If you already filed, use the correction process when needed.
Before you open the official service
- Tax year, slip type, issuer and available payment records.
Keep your actual documents and account details off this website. Use the official service’s current checklist before applying.
What to check for your situation
CRA’s instructions for supporting notes differ between electronic and paper filing. Auto-fill is not a guarantee that every slip or income item is included.
Fees, processing times and document rules can change. This page helps you navigate; it does not confirm eligibility or replace the government’s instructions.
